Scribner’s Catskill Lodge - The Perfect Mountain Escape
If you have been checking out my Instagram page recently you can see I’ve been posting an overload of photos from our recent getaway to Scribner’s Lodge in the Catskills area. But can you blame me??? The aesthetic of this lodge is any instagrammer’s heaven!
From their library boasting wall to wall shelves filled with books to the cozy fireplaces Scribner’s Lodge is the perfect place to escape from the crazy city life; no wonder it’s been around since the 1960s.
Location & Getting There:
It took us less than 2 hours from North Jersey to get to Scribner’s Catskills Lodge in Hunter, NY; making it the perfect winter getaway location. They have free on site parking so you don’t have to worry about paying any parking fees.

Scribner’s is less than a 5 minute drive to Hunter Mountain, home to one of Upstate's best ski and snowboard trails in NYC. This time around, Mike and I didn’t get a chance to visit Hunter Mountain since we decided to hike the Kaaterskill Falls to view NYC’s tallest waterfall. Highly recommend checking out this trail; the hike took us less than an hour since we started from the lower point but don’t be fooled the hike itself can be a bit challenging.
Facilities:
Depending on the room you book the amenities will vary; ours was PERFECT!! We had a fireplace, spacious beds and a terrace with magnificent views to Hunter Mountain! Our room was sooo cozy and perfect that we didn’t want to leave.
We were famished from our hike to the waterfall so we headed to the onsite restaurant; Prospect which is known for it’s farm to table cuisine. We ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and the double cheeseburger and both were soooo GOOD!!! The restaurant is open 7 days for breakfast but it’s closed Monday & Tuesday for lunch/dinner which forces you head into town but believe me a visit to town is totally worth it to check out all the cute little stores and eating options.
We also grabbed breakfast here the next morning and this was amazing………………..….eating scrumptious fluffy pancakes next to the fireplace was a great way to start our day.
Among its other amenities, you can enjoy the seasonal outdoor swimming pool, the seasonal bocce area, the year long outdoor sauna, take in all the beautiful mountain views and my favorite part enjoy the outdoor fire pit where you can roast some tasty s’mores. As if all these spaces weren’t captivating enough, the indoor library/lounge area is the perfect location to play some pool, grab a book and warm up by the fireplace or just lounge in one of the many cozy areas.
Service/Experience:
The check in process was super smooth and we were greeted by their staff who personally walked us to our room which I thought was super personable and cute!
Our room had all the essentials for a perfect stay; the attention to details like our perfectly packed s’mores kit to a nicely chilled cider made our stay even more enjoyable.
Every time we came across a staff member they were always extremely pleasant and made sure that we had everything needed for the perfect stay.
Overall Experience:
Some of our highlights included eating at The Prospect Restaurant, Scribner's restaurant which boasts a "playful twist on local cuisine inspired by the rich and diverse offerings of the Hudson Valley” even though the food is on the pricey side it’s sooo delicious and worth every penny.
Scribner’s Lodge was the perfect getaway location with so many great amenities, the only drawbacks is that the onsite restaurant is closed for lunch/dinner on Monday & Tuesday but you can take advantage and order from their sister restaurant in town Sal’s Pizzeria. I also wish that the pool was open all year round or if they had an outdoor hot tub to soak after a day of enjoying the outdoors.
Scribner's Lodge is perfect whether you are on a family trip, girls weekend adventure or a romantic getaway. Oh and did I mention that they are pet-friendly!!! So you don't have to leave your furry one at home.
