Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort
If you are looking to escape the hustle & bustle of city life then pack your bags and head up north to the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort nestled in Lake Placid; only a few hours away in the Adirondacks Mountains.
The moment you set foot inside the lobby and are greeted with their grand windows of views to Mirror Lake you can instantly see why so many people choose to escape to this lakeside resort.
The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort hosted us during our recent trip to Lake Placid; our first time visiting this area but most certainly not our last and we couldn't recommend this place enough.
If you are looking for an eco-friendly resort right in the heart of Lake Placid then look no further than the Golden Arrow. This family owned resort will overdeliver in all your expectations and will be the perfect home away from home.
Location & Getting There:
The Golden Arrow Resort was about 4.5 hours away from Northern Jersey but the ride up north was so scenic especially this time of the year with all the fall foliage so the trip didn't feel long at all.
The resort itself is located right on Main Street so it’s within walking distance to many restaurants & shops which makes it the perfect hub for your trip to Lake Placid. You have free onsite parking which is super convenient and is located right on the Main Street with direct access to the highways and the major sites.
The Golden Arrow sits on Mirror Lake, imagine waking up every morning and looking outside your bedroom window to a beautiful sunrise….what better way to start your day. Make sure to book a room with a lakeside view….trust me you will NOT regret it.
The best way to get there is by car, however you can also reach Lake Placid by train or bus but this will require a bit of trekking. If you take the bus it leaves you right down the block at the Olympic Center just a few steps to Golden Arrow. For more information on public transportation CLICK HERE.
Facilities:
Our favorite part was being right on Mirror Lake & watching the sunrise & sunset right from our balcony. With so many great amenities you don’t even need to leave the resort as you can fully keep yourself occupied with everything Golden Arrow has to offer.
The resort itself offers many onsite amenities such as:
Swimming Pool (please note that due to COVID they have strict regulations in place and limited time usage)
Direct Beach Access (although the water temperatures were a bit cool and we didn't get to bathe in the lake it's great that you have private access to their beach; we can’t wait to return during the summer months to take full advantage of the beach)
Outdoor Fire Pits
Seasonal Water Toys (since the temperature had dropped when we went they no longer had kayaks or canoes available; but during the warmer weather they have free use of their water toys for your enjoyment)
Ice Skating (seasonal activities)
Gym (this was closed due to COVID)
Now let's talk about our room….yes you already know our favorite part was having a balcony with views of Mirror Lake. The room itself was super cozy and had total cabin vibes; we had a gorgeous fireplace where we roasted some delicious s’mores. The beds were comfy and we even had a sleeper sofa.
One big concern for us was WIFI but we had zero issues with service which was perfect since Samantha had to do some virtual school lessons during our trip.
There is even a trail that you can take around Mirror Lake which leads you to a nice park with swings etc if you are traveling with young children.
Service/Experience:
From the moment we walked in the lobby we were greeted by warm smiles & friendly faces.
The check in process was super smooth - we checked in and headed straight to our room to settle in.
The rooms were very clean & fully stocked. (Due to Covid they don't offer turndown service but should you need anything you can always ask the front desk)
We had read reviews about the resort being outdated etc but the decor really felt in line with the cozy vibes and we found that the rooms and halls were well maintained.
Overall Experience:
The resort offers many onsite amenities but if you are looking for some things to do/see outside of the resort make sure to read our Lake Placid Guide.
Even though they don't offer any onsite restaurants, the resort is right next door to Generations Restaurant that offers a delicious breakfast, lunch & dinner spread and within a few steps to a variety of other restaurants.
We truly enjoyed our stay and only wished we could have spent more time taking in all the magnificent views.
It’s easy to see why so many people keep coming back to the Golden Arrow and we are already counting the days until we return.
The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort hosted us during our stay, however the thoughts expressed above our truthful opinion and we really enjoyed our getaway.
XOXO,
The Traveling Roses
