Glamping in the Catskills
Exploring the outdoors has become a favorite pastime for us. That's why we packed up our car and headed to the Catskills region to disconnect and spend some quality time outdoors. Although we were looking to disconnect from everyday life we still wanted to have all the essentials and comforts from home. Whether you are looking for a true camping experience or if you are like us and prefer to stay in a cabin, Kittatinny Canoes in Barryville, NY has options for all types of outdoor enthusiasts.
The campsite itself is in the perfect location less than 1.5 hours from NYC/Northern NJ; which makes it the perfect location if you are just looking to get away for a few days. Right on site they have a lake and multiple hiking trails. If you are feeling adventurous they even have ziplining and paintball.
Our cabin offered a bedroom, bunk bed, kitchenette and full bathroom with shower. I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious our cabin was. It can easily accommodate up to six people. We also had our own outdoor BBQ Grill & Fire Ring. Our kitchenette was fully equipped with all the essentials needed...they even provided pots and pans.
We loved that their activity center offered various river trips like tubing, kayaking, rafting & canoeing. We opted to go rafting which was the perfect way to spend the afternoon taking in the scenic views along the Delaware River Gap. Make sure to bring some snacks & water with you on the raft and to wear sunblock. The tide was high when we went on our river trip in under 3 hours; but depending on the tide you can be on the lake for about 3-5 hours.
After a day on the lake we spent our afternoon grilling outside our campsite before settling in for the night along the campfire and roasting some s’mores. Later that night we set up a projector and had a fun movie night outside our cabin. (please make sure to observe their quiet hours and keep noise and volume so it doesn't disturb other campers)
We loved that the Kittatinny Canoes campsite is perfectly located in the Catskills region and within easy drive to the Poconos Mountain. The campsite is located within a 20 minute drive to Hawk’s Nest - this is a must stop when in the area. Prior to heading back home we drove over to Pennsylvania and spent the day on ATVs. Kittatinny Canoes also has a campsite in the Poconos area if you prefer to stay on the Pennsylvania side.
